2020 shook our sector to its core. All our certainties were challenged, and we had to act quickly in the face of the crisis. Solinum demonstrated exceptional agility in its response. By leveraging digital tools for a rapid crisis response, we supported solidarity stakeholders and their beneficiaries. We could have stopped there, like many initiatives that launched or, like us, took on a new dimension during the health crisis. But from this experience, we were also left with a feeling that it wasn't enough. Yes, we had a significant impact. The need to provide vulnerable individuals with quality, up-to-date information, and to securely frame citizen-led housing initiatives, is no longer in question. However, this impact largely remained confined to our areas of operation, even though the need is so much broader. How many people could have avoided falling deeper into precarity if we had been able to guide them to the right resource at the right time? How many people could have avoided the painful experience of homelessness if citizen-led housing had already been widespread? Of course, we must celebrate all victories. Nevertheless, our values compel us to always think big and look far ahead.
If we have the capacity, then we owe it to the people we aim to help to do more. Driven by that lingering sense of 'not enough' and our characteristic hunger for ever greater social impact, 2021 became a year of transformation: transforming our structure to turn exceptional efforts into lasting impact. From the start of the year, we tackled the problem head-on. Our goal: to be ready for the next crisis, and all those that follow. To achieve this, we needed to grow and further strengthen our structure. Far from giving up after a challenging year, we drew the necessary conclusions to push further. Our values drive us to continuously improve, building on what works while embracing experimentation and learning from mistakes.
