Women at risk: free legal and psychological support

Domestic violence can take many forms.

But know one thing: professionals are here to support you. For free. Without judgment. In complete confidentiality.

Emergency numbers to know

3919: Domestic Violence Helpline

This is THE number to remember. 3919 is free and anonymous. You can call 7 days a week, from 9 AM to 7 PM (until 9 PM Monday to Friday).

What 3919 does:

You are not obliged to give your name. You can call even if you're not sure, even if you just need to talk.

Important: Remember to delete the call from your history if your partner controls your phone.

17 or 112: In Immediate Danger

If you are in immediate danger, call the police or gendarmerie. That's 17 (or 112 from a mobile phone). Even without proof. Even if you're afraid you won't be believed.

Law enforcement officers are trained. They can come, document the violence, take your complaint, and ensure your immediate safety.

114: By SMS if you cannot speak

If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or unable to make a call (because the abuser is nearby), send an SMS to 114. This is the accessible emergency number.

Legal and Psychological Support

Information Centers for Women's and Family Rights (CIDFF)

CIDFFs are associations located throughout France. They provide free support on all legal aspects:

CIDFF legal experts explain everything in simple language. They can accompany you to your appointments if you need them to.

Legal aid

If you need to go to court, you can benefit from legal aid. The state pays for your lawyer. Depending on your income, coverage can be full or partial.

Good to know: In cases of domestic violence, conditions are relaxed. You may be entitled to assistance even with slightly higher income.

Medical-Psychological Centers (CMP)

CMPs offer free consultations with psychologists or psychiatrists. There might be a bit of a wait for an appointment, but it's free and no prescription is needed.
